applications
Where it is used
- Box cricket and turf grounds
- Full enclosure of a commercial turf pitch, including roof netting where the site is hemmed in by buildings.
- Practice nets and bowling lanes
- Individual lanes with reinforced rear panels, which take the concentrated wear in any practice facility.
- Rooftop and terrace play areas
- Perimeter and overhead containment that turns an unused apartment terrace into a safe five-a-side or badminton space.
- School playground perimeters
- Barrier netting between play areas and roads or car parks, sized so a struck ball cannot leave the premises.

materials
Materials we specify
| Material | Specification | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Braided nylon netting | Nylon 6, braided, 1.5 mm to 3 mm twine, knotted | Nylon's elasticity lets it absorb ball impact and recover, which is why it outlasts stiffer polymers in practice nets. |
| HDPE sports netting | UV-stabilised HDPE, 2 mm to 4 mm twine | More rigid and cheaper than nylon, and a sound choice for perimeter barrier duty where direct high-speed impact is rarer. |
| Support structure | Hot-dip galvanised MS posts with catenary cable and turnbuckles | Galvanising is essential on posts set into ground that stays wet, since corrosion at the base is the usual mode of failure. |

installation
How the installation runs
This is survey-led work. A typical job takes 8 to 40 hours on site once the specification is settled.
Site and sport assessment
We establish the sport, playing level and boundary conditions, which together set net height, aperture and post grid.
Foundations and post erection
Posts are set in concrete foundations sized for wind load and net tension, then left to cure before any net is hung.
Cable rigging
Top and intermediate cables are strung and tensioned to form the frame the netting will hang from.
Net hanging and lacing
Panels are hung, laced to cables and to each other so there is no gap at seams, then tensioned evenly.
Impact and gap testing
The installation is checked for ball escape routes at ground level, seams and corners before it is signed off.
- Confirm underground services before foundations are excavated
- Allow curing time for post foundations within the programme
- Agree a working window that does not clash with ground bookings

safety
Safety and standards
- Post foundations designed for local basic wind speed as given in IS 875 Part 3
- Net apertures selected so the ball in use cannot pass through the mesh
- Slack netting damages itself
- A loose net whips against posts and cables on every impact; that abrasion, not the ball, is what wears it out.
- Ground-level gaps defeat the system
- A well-built enclosure with a 100 mm gap at the base will still let balls out, so the bottom edge is closed properly.
- Posts are the real hazard
- Steel posts inside a playing area need padding, because a player running into an unpadded post is a worse outcome than a lost ball.

benefits
What you get from it
- Play without collateral damage
- Containment lets a ground operate next to parked cars and glazing without the constant risk of a broken windscreen or window.
- More usable ground per square metre
- Netting divides a site into lanes or courts, so one footprint can host several simultaneous sessions.
- Built for repeated impact
- Correct twine and tension mean the net absorbs and returns a ball for years instead of blowing out in a season.
- Weather-stable across seasons
- UV-stabilised polymer keeps its strength through summer sun and heavy rain, which matters for an asset used daily.

features
How the system is built
- Sport-specific mesh aperture
- Cricket, football and golf each need a different aperture; a ball only has to pass once for the net to have failed.
- Cable-supported top line
- A galvanised or stainless catenary cable carries the net's weight and wind load so the mesh is not asked to span unaided.
- Post grid designed to the site
- Post spacing and height come from span, expected ball speed and wind exposure rather than a standard kit layout.
- Retractable and divider options
- Sliding curtains let a hall or terrace be reconfigured between a single large space and separate practice lanes.

maintenance
Keeping it working
We recommend an inspection every 6 months. Most of it is straightforward enough to do yourself.
- Re-tension cables and net
- Heavily used nets stretch; taking up tension at the turnbuckles each season prevents whip damage and sagging.
- Repair impact zones early
- Wear concentrates behind the batting area. Patching a small hole is routine work; leaving it means replacing a panel.
- Inspect post bases
- Check for corrosion and movement where posts meet the foundation, which is where a failure would start.

quality
Quality checks and warranty
This product carries a 2-year warranty on materials and workmanship, on the basis that the recommended inspection is carried out.
- Net aperture verified against the ball in use
- Post foundation dimensions and concrete grade recorded
- Cable tension measured after net hanging
- Perimeter walked for escape routes before handover

pricingFactors
What drives the price
- Enclosed area and net height
- Height drives cost faster than plan area, since taller posts need larger foundations as well as more netting.
- Overhead netting
- Adding a roof to an enclosure changes the structural problem and typically adds a substantial share to the total.
- Twine grade and polymer
- Braided nylon for a serious practice facility costs considerably more per square metre than HDPE barrier netting.
- Groundworks
- Rock, made-up ground or existing paving all change excavation cost, and are the least predictable part of any quotation.
- Moving parts
- Retractable curtains, tracks and dividers add hardware and commissioning time compared with a fixed enclosure.
We do not publish a rate per square foot, because the same area can differ in price by a factor of two depending on grade, spacing and access. Every quotation states these explicitly.

whyChoose
Why Avensafe for Playground Safety Nets
- Installing since 2016
- Avensafe Solutions has specified and installed balcony and window safety systems since 2016, so survey and fixing habits are built from years of real openings rather than a product brochure.
- Coverage across eight states
- Crews work across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Odisha, and Maharashtra, with quotations written for local building stock and climate.
- Survey before any firm price
- Every firm quotation follows a measured visit: opening sizes, substrate, access, and society rules are written down so you can compare like for like.
- Premium graded materials
- Cable grade, mesh polymer, and hardware are named on the quotation — not left as generic “stainless” or “UV net” claims.
- Variant-specific quotation
- Quotes for Playground Safety Nets name the intent-relevant spacing, mesh, or hanger detail — not a generic sports nets lump sum.
- Photo estimate on WhatsApp
- Written quotation after survey
- Named material grades
- Eight-state coverage

Questions we are asked most

Will my apartment association need to approve the work?
In most gated communities and housing societies, yes, because anything fixed to an external wall or balcony counts as a facade alteration. We can supply the drawings and material specification you need to submit. It is worth starting that process early, since approval usually takes longer than the installation itself.
How long does an installation take?
A cloth hanger is usually done in an hour or two. A single balcony safety net takes two to six hours, and an invisible grill on one or two bays takes most of a working day. Larger jobs such as sports enclosures or building covering run to several days because foundations and scaffold have to be dealt with first.
Do you need to visit before giving a price?
For anything structural we do, yes. We can give an indicative range over the phone from your balcony dimensions, but the final price depends on the condition of the wall or slab we are fixing into, the access route for materials, and the exact spacing you need. A survey takes about twenty minutes and means the quotation we give you is the price you pay.
Do I need overhead netting as well as perimeter netting?
If the ground is hemmed in by buildings or a road, usually yes, because a lofted ball leaves over the top rather than through the side. Adding a roof changes the structural problem rather than just the area, since the posts and cables then carry a much larger wind load, so it is designed rather than simply extended.
How high does a cricket containment net need to be?
It depends on the standard of play and how close the boundary is to whatever you are protecting. A practice lane needs less height than an open box-cricket ground with a road behind it. We size height from the expected ball speed and the distance to the nearest thing that can be damaged, rather than from a standard figure.
What warranty do you provide?
Warranty depends on the product, and the figure for each one is stated on its service page rather than promised generically here. In every case the warranty covers materials and workmanship on what we installed, and it assumes the yearly inspection is carried out. We will always tell you what is and is not covered before you commit.
Do you actually cover my area, or only the main city?
We cover the localities listed on our service area pages, and those lists reflect where we genuinely operate rather than everywhere we would like to. If your locality is not listed, call us anyway: we often work just beyond a listed boundary, and we will tell you plainly if a job is outside our reach rather than sending someone unprepared.
