materials

Materials we specify

Materials and specifications
MaterialSpecificationWhy it matters
Stainless steel cableAISI 316 or 304, 7x7 construction, 2 mm to 3 mm diameterGrade 316 carries molybdenum and resists chloride pitting, which is why it is specified near the coast; 304 is adequate inland.
Aluminium frame profilePowder-coated 6063-T6 extrusionThe extrusion carries the cable tension and gives a finished edge; powder coating over pretreated alloy holds colour for years outdoors.
Anchors and terminationsStainless fasteners with nylon or stainless sleevesMixing a plain steel fastener into a stainless assembly invites galvanic corrosion, so fixings are matched to the cable.

installation

How the installation runs

This is survey-led work. A typical job takes 3 to 8 hours on site once the specification is settled.

  1. Site survey and measurement

Every bay is measured individually and checked for square, since balconies are rarely as uniform as the drawings suggest.

  2. Frame fabrication

Profiles are cut and drilled to the surveyed sizes so cable spacing stays uniform across openings of different widths.

  3. Frame fixing

Frames are anchored into sound concrete or masonry, with fixing points set back from edges to avoid spalling.

  4. Cable threading and tensioning

Cables are threaded, brought to tension in sequence and locked, then re-checked so no run is left slack.

  5. Handover inspection

Gaps are gauged, tension is spot-checked and the client is shown the annual check they can carry out themselves.

  • Clear the balcony of furniture, planters and drying racks
  • Provide access to a power point for drilling
  • Confirm with the building association whether facade alterations need written approval

pricingFactors

What drives the price

Total running area
Cost tracks the measured area of the openings, so a wraparound balcony costs more than a single bay of the same height.
Cable grade
Moving from 304 to 316 stainless raises material cost but is the right call in salt-laden coastal air.
Cable spacing
Tighter spacing means more cable and more terminations per square metre, which is the single biggest driver after area.
Access and floor height
Work that needs edge protection or restricted-hours access on an upper floor carries more labour than a ground-floor bay.
Substrate condition
Weak or spalling concrete needs repair or an alternative anchor before frames can be fixed, which adds to the job.

We do not publish a rate per square foot, because the same area can differ in price by a factor of two depending on grade, spacing and access. Every quotation states these explicitly.

benefits

What you get from it

An unobstructed view
Cables of 2 to 3 mm read as fine lines against the sky, so a balcony keeps its outlook and rooms behind it stay bright.
Ventilation is unaffected
Open cable spacing leaves airflow essentially unchanged, which matters in cities where cross-ventilation does most of the cooling.
No rust bleed onto the facade
Stainless cable and aluminium framing avoid the rust streaks that painted mild steel grilles leave down a wall within a few monsoons.
Child and pet containment
Spacing tight enough to stop a child getting a head or limb through turns a balcony into usable family space rather than a hazard.

features

How the system is built

Vertical cables at controlled spacing
Cables run floor to head height at a spacing chosen so a small child cannot pass through or use them as a ladder.
Individually tensioned runs
Each cable is tensioned to a target load and locked, so the run stays taut instead of sagging into a climbable gap.
Concealed anchorage
Terminations sit inside the frame profile, leaving a clean edge with no exposed crimps or protruding fasteners.
Made to the measured opening
Frames are cut to the surveyed dimensions of each bay, which is the only way to hold a consistent gap on out-of-square openings.

applications

Where it is used

Apartment balconies
The most common case: a fall barrier on an existing parapet, sized to the bay and fixed without touching the structural railing.
Full-height and French windows
Glazing that opens inward needs a barrier behind it; cables provide one without darkening the room.
Staircase and atrium voids
Internal voids and stair wells get an infill that satisfies gap requirements while keeping sightlines through the space.
Terrace parapets
Low parapets are brought up to a safe effective height without adding visual mass to the roofline.

safety

Safety and standards

  • Barrier heights and infill gaps follow the National Building Code of India guidance for protective barriers
  • Fixings installed to the anchor manufacturer's stated pull-out values
Gap control is the whole point
A barrier that is strong but has one wide gap has failed; spacing is gauged at every run rather than assumed from the drawing.
The anchor decides the strength
Cable rarely fails first. Pull-out at the anchor does, so substrate condition is checked before a fixing method is chosen.
Not a substitute for supervision
A cable barrier reduces risk substantially but no barrier removes the need to supervise young children on a balcony.

maintenance

Keeping it working

We recommend an inspection every 12 months. Most of it is straightforward enough to do yourself.

Check tension by hand
Press each cable at mid-span; noticeable give means it should be re-tensioned before the gap widens under load.
Wash down the cables
Plain water and a soft cloth remove the airborne salt and grime that cause staining on stainless if left to sit.
Inspect anchor points
Look for hairline cracking or rust weeping around fixings, both of which indicate the anchorage needs attention.

whyChoose

Why Avensafe for Invisible Grill Price

Installing since 2016
Avensafe Solutions has specified and installed balcony and window safety systems since 2016, so survey and fixing habits are built from years of real openings rather than a product brochure.
Coverage across eight states
Crews work across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Odisha, and Maharashtra, with quotations written for local building stock and climate.
Survey before any firm price
Every firm quotation follows a measured visit: opening sizes, substrate, access, and society rules are written down so you can compare like for like.
Premium graded materials
Cable grade, mesh polymer, and hardware are named on the quotation — not left as generic “stainless” or “UV net” claims.
Variant-specific quotation
Quotes for Invisible Grill Price name the intent-relevant spacing, mesh, or hanger detail — not a generic invisible grills lump sum.

Questions we are asked most

Corner balcony invisible grill with clear panoramic view through stainless cables
Is there a cheaper specification that is still safe?

Sometimes. Moving from 316 to 304 stainless is a genuine saving and perfectly sound at an inland address, and a coarser mesh is fine if you only need to keep birds out. What we will not do is reduce cable spacing tolerance or anchor quality, because those are the two things that decide whether the installation actually holds.

Why do quotations for the same balcony differ so much?

Almost always because the specifications are different, even when the dimensions are identical. Cable grade, cable spacing, net polymer and the type of anchor used all change the cost substantially and none of them are visible in a photograph. When comparing quotations, check the stated grade and spacing rather than the total alone.

What cable spacing is right for a home with young children?

The spacing has to be tight enough that a child cannot pass a head or limb through, and close enough that the cables cannot be used as a ladder. Vertical cables are better than horizontal ones for exactly that reason. We gauge the gap at several heights on every bay at handover rather than assuming the fabrication came out to specification.

How long does an installation take?

A cloth hanger is usually done in an hour or two. A single balcony safety net takes two to six hours, and an invisible grill on one or two bays takes most of a working day. Larger jobs such as sports enclosures or building covering run to several days because foundations and scaffold have to be dealt with first.

Will my apartment association need to approve the work?

In most gated communities and housing societies, yes, because anything fixed to an external wall or balcony counts as a facade alteration. We can supply the drawings and material specification you need to submit. It is worth starting that process early, since approval usually takes longer than the installation itself.

How does an invisible grill compare with a normal iron grille?

It costs more and it is far less obtrusive. A welded grille is cheaper and needs no tension maintenance, but it blocks light and view and will eventually rust and streak the facade. An invisible grill keeps the outlook and does not bleed rust, at the cost of an annual tension check and a higher initial price.

Do you actually cover my area, or only the main city?

We cover the localities listed on our service area pages, and those lists reflect where we genuinely operate rather than everywhere we would like to. If your locality is not listed, call us anyway: we often work just beyond a listed boundary, and we will tell you plainly if a job is outside our reach rather than sending someone unprepared.

Can you publish a rate per square foot?

We deliberately do not, because a single rate would be misleading. The same area costs very different amounts depending on the grade of hardware, the spacing you need, the height you are working at and the condition of the substrate. Our pricing guide sets out every factor that moves the number so you can see how a quotation is built up.

What warranty do you provide?

Warranty depends on the product, and the figure for each one is stated on its service page rather than promised generically here. In every case the warranty covers materials and workmanship on what we installed, and it assumes the yearly inspection is carried out. We will always tell you what is and is not covered before you commit.

Do you need to visit before giving a price?

For anything structural we do, yes. We can give an indicative range over the phone from your balcony dimensions, but the final price depends on the condition of the wall or slab we are fixing into, the access route for materials, and the exact spacing you need. A survey takes about twenty minutes and means the quotation we give you is the price you pay.
