Knowing what happens and when makes it far easier to spot a job being done badly. Here is the whole sequence.

The survey is the part that determines everything else
A survey takes about twenty minutes and decides the specification, the price and whether the job is straightforward. We measure every bay individually and check it for square, because balconies are rarely as uniform as the drawings suggest and a frame cut to an assumed dimension will leave an uneven gap. If a contractor offers a firm price for cable or net work without visiting, ask what they are assuming about your substrate. There is no good answer.
Fabrication and what you should prepare
Frames are cut and drilled to the surveyed sizes so that cable spacing stays uniform across openings of different widths. Where access is through a service lift, sections are made short enough to travel in it, which is a detail worth agreeing early in tall buildings.
