How tall a sports net really needs to be for terrace and ground practice
A net that looks tall from the ground can still be short against a lofted shot. Height and roofing decisions belong in the survey, not the brochure.

Height follows ball flight, not aesthetics
Cricket practice on a terrace needs different containment than badminton or a kids' play court. Lofted shots and mis-hits set the required height more than the average rally. Neighbouring glass, parked cars and pedestrian paths set the consequence of getting it wrong.

Structure matters as much as mesh
A tall net on light posts will lean and open gaps at the base. Galvanised or stainless posts, correct guy points, and impact zones where balls hit hardest keep the enclosure honest over a season of practice. Soft ground or waterproofing membranes on terraces need special base details so anchors do not leak into the slab.

When a roof net is worth it
Roof panels make sense when lofted shots regularly clear the side nets or when the practice lane sits under a higher building edge. They add cost and shade, so they should follow observed ball flight rather than a default package.
Send a short video of practice if you already use the space. It is often clearer than a drawing for deciding height and whether the roof is necessary.

How high does a cricket containment net need to be?
It depends on the standard of play and how close the boundary is to whatever you are protecting. A practice lane needs less height than an open box-cricket ground with a road behind it. We size height from the expected ball speed and the distance to the nearest thing that can be damaged, rather than from a standard figure.
Do I need overhead netting as well as perimeter netting?
If the ground is hemmed in by buildings or a road, usually yes, because a lofted ball leaves over the top rather than through the side. Adding a roof changes the structural problem rather than just the area, since the posts and cables then carry a much larger wind load, so it is designed rather than simply extended.
